Empowering Families To Thrive: Perinatal Care for All!

Updated: Mar 27

We don't all start at the same line regarding our mothering journey. Read on to know why and what you can do about it.

In the United Kingdom, birthing safety for most women is well-established. However, data from a 2020 NHS England survey sheds light on the diverse experiences within our maternal healthcare system that still impact birthing experiences today in 2024.

While 55% of births were spontaneous vaginal deliveries, 13% were instrumental, and 30% were via Caesarean Section, there remains a notable absence of reflections on near misses, miscarriages, stillbirths, and the long-term impacts on families and women's reproductive health, especially on minority communities here in the UK.

The statistics reveal a trend: concerning the minority community, women experience poorer birth outcomes compared to the general population, irrespective of socioeconomic status and IQ, with rising cases of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Postnatal Depression (PTSD, PND) among childbearing women and now men from all backgrounds.

Have you considered the impact on your family unit should birth trauma or the listed above circumstances occur? We understand the long-term impact; therefore, providing a space for preparation and a focused mindset for pregnancy, birth, and beyond results in well-being solutions.

At Conscious Mothers' core, we recognise that birthing is a unique universal experience. Not all women start their mothering journey simultaneously, and our mission is to remain focused on improving perinatal and maternal outcomes for families.

As we confront the persisting challenges in maternal healthcare, reports like the MBRRACE 2020 and 2023 and Parliamentary advice from 2021 underscore the urgent need for improvement.

Drawing on evidence from Cochrane, which suggests that outsourcing a doula presence can reduce risks and improve birth outcomes by up to 24%, we are committed to implementing effective strategies to support your well-being.
